Colombia asks FBI to help investigate wiretapping http://colombiareports.com/colombia-news/news/9077-colombia-asks-fbi-to-help-investigate-wiretapping.html

Colombian Prosecutor General Guillermo Medoza Diago asked the FBI for assistance with investigations into the alleged threats against and illegal DAS wiretapping of Supreme Court judges, reported El Tiempo Friday.Diago said that all the relevant formalities were in place for the U.S Fedral Bureau of Investigations (FBI) to provide the necessary help in collecting evidence and identifying those responsible for the threats and the interceptions.

The bureau has "made a reconstruction of events and will not stop until they exhaust all scenarios," said the prosecutor general.Diago is about to decide whether to file charges against former DAS directors Maria Del Pilar Hurtado, Joaquin Polo, and Andres Peñate. The prosecutor general said that "decisions against the former directors of DAS will be made in the coming days."

President Alvaro Uribe's personal secretary, Bernardo Moreno, was charged for his role in the DAS wiretapping scandal in late February. The prosecutor general also called on those responsible for the irregularities in last month's congressional elections to explain what caused the delays in vote counting.
