Evo accuses U.S. of cover up and using  drug cartels http://www.ensemana.com/sitio/articulo/20100601_1625941.asp

Evo Morales on Monday accused the U.S. of protecting drug trafficking in Bolivia after assuring that the country makes payments or financial assistance to judges and fiscalesque freed from drug traffickers. "The United States, rather than seeking to eradicate drug trafficking only protects, conceals and promotes the drug, uses it to gain political control of our countries to condition and blackmail, I came to that conclusion," said Morales at a public event.

"This support and U.S. participation, with those funds ... I dare to say it encourages drug trafficking. How is it possible that judges and prosecutors who are paid by the U.S. NAS may release this kind of drug cartels?" , Morales added.  With his words referred to the abduction of a possible boss of a gang of drug traffickers who was arrested and then released for years and whose bodyguards were killed.

The NAS is the section responsible for administering narcotics and coordination of the resources the U.S. government provides Bolivia. About  mid-month in the eastern region of Santa Cruz, there were left six dead, including three Serbs and three Bolivians, who supposedly protected Rosales Williams, a drug kingpin, who was abducted in a settling of scores with another band.

Morales explained that after these very suspicious deaths investigated and found that the judge Leaños Roque, who attended the event Rosales in 2008 after being arrested on drug charges three times released him. "This doctor, judge (read) of narcotics receives 8000 bolivianos (about 1.145 U.S. dollars) monthly salary of U.S. (and) of course, get paid for the Bolivian state and this release, therefore, raises many suspicions," he said.
