"Jericho is the oldest city in the world with a history dating back some ten thousand years. It has been sitting all this time just north of what is called Bahr-al-Mayyit otherwise known to any foreigner as the Dead Sea where it is some 420 meters below average sea level and thus is considered the lowest elevation on the planet's surface and it also has some of the world's saltiest bodies of water.
