Gus Bilirakis, Reagan Republican from Florida’s 9th District is from this latter category. Filling the seat his late father Michael held since 1983, “Congressman Gus” as he prefers to be known back home, has the reputation of being a nice, affable fellow who does not claim to know much about the Middle East or foreign affairs. Hard to stereotype as being a fanatic supporter of Israel, gross Islamophobe or Arab basher, Bilirakis basically wants to get along by going along. AIPAC likes him because he appears ‘regular American’ and not too ‘neurotically pro Israel.’
as one of his District office interns explained, adding that “our boss is ordinary, folksy, and just wants to help the simple people.” Certainly he appears to fit the recent AIPAC mode shift of lining up more conservative members of Congress to do Israel’s bidding and to pull back a bit from the type casted “Liberal Jewish establishment” stereotype. By selecting Gus to introduce H.R. 2278, AIPAC and friends scored a public relations bonus.
Gus told his District’s Bay 9 News TV station on 12/9/09 that:“My legislation will provide the United States with critical baseline information to combat media outlets that serve as vehicles for violent anti-American incitement,” said Bilirakis, who is a member of the House Committees on Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security. “Given the danger such incitement and radicalization poses to Americans both at home and aboard, it is crucial that these tools of terror be distinguished from reputable news outlets.” We already spend too much on foreign aid to countries that take our money with one hand and slap us with the other. This legislation will help us ratchet down foreign aid to countries who take this approach.”

The media is telling us that Parliament was prorogued to duck the controversy about the Afghanistan detainees. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/proroguing-parliament-a-travesty-yet-clever/article1415391/ But this does not make sense - the New World Orderly Harper has been doing the bidding of the extra-national entities(mostly the Israeli Lobby) that run Canada slavishly. As if anyone with power in Canada cares about torture of Afghani ‘terrorists’. http://ziofascism.net/blog/2009/12/top-10-zionist-control-in-canada/
Another factor not generally considered is revealed by MarketWatch. Every time there’s been a terrorist attack involving public transportation - 9/11, London, Madrid - Verint (Security) Systems Inc. stock has gone up. All of these events have raised security consciousness, and more often than not Verint has been the contract winner.

Honduras: arson attack on Garifuna community radio stationhttp://www.ww4report.com/node/8168
In the early hours of Jan. 6, unknown assailants carried out an arson attack against the Garifuna-language community radio station Faluma Bimetu (also known as Radio Coco Dulce) at Triunfo de la Cruz in Tela municipality on the Caribbean coast of Honduras.
The blaze gutted the studio and destroyed equipment. The international watchdog group Reporters Without Borders said the attacks "confirms the persistent danger" to independent media under the Honduran de facto authorities, and that investigating the case will be a "test" for the new government that is to take power on Jan. 27.

Honduras: prosecutors charge military officials for Zelaya ousterhttp://www.ww4report.com/node/8169
Honduran prosecutors on Jan. 6 filed charges against three military chiefs in connection with the ouster of president Manuel Zelaya in June. The prosecutor general's office filed abuse of power charges before the Honduran Supreme Court against armed forces commander Romeo Vásquez Velásquez (a School of the Americas graduate),
air force commander Venancio Cervantes, and naval commander Luis Javier Prince (also an SOA graduate). According to the charges, the three violated the Honduran constitution when they seized Zelaya and put him on a plane to Costa Rica because the charter prohibits the forcible removal of a citizen. The court has three days to decide whether to take up the case.

US President orders spy, security agencies to carry out urgent measures after failed Al-Qaeda attack. David Swanson on the Recent Massacre of 8 Children in Kunar Provincehttp://www.boilingfrogspost.com/2010/01/06/shooting-handcuffed-children/
The occupied government of Afghanistan and the United Nations have both concluded that U.S.-led troops recently dragged eight sleeping children out of their beds, handcuffed some of them, and shot them all dead.
While this apparently constitutes an everyday act of kindness, far less intriguing than the vicious singeing of his pubic hairs by Captain Underpants, it is at least a variation on the ordinary American technique of murdering men, women, and children by the dozens with unmanned drones.

Soacha investigations to continue: Supreme Judicial Councilhttp://colombiareports.com/colombia-news/news/7597-soacha-investigations-to-continue-supreme-judicial-council.html
The investigation into the 2008 kidnap and murder of eleven young men from Soacha will continue despite the release of seventeen soldiers implicated in the country's most famous "false positives" case, the chairman of Colombia's Supreme Judicial Council said Friday. The suspects were released on Thursday after their defense attorney successfully argued that their clients had not been granted trial within the legal term of 90 days. Prosecutors objected the controversial decision and accused the defense of stalling the trial. But even with the suspects at liberty, the investigation will continue, Supreme Judicial Council Chairman Judge Maria Mercedes Lopez told W Radio."The people were released, but the investigation continues. The criminal process does not end," the magistrate said.
The seventeen soldiers are suspected of being part of a scheme that involved the recruitment of young men in Soacha who were later executed and reported as members of illegal armed groups killed in combat.

Top 10: Kick-Ass Native Americanshttp://www.askmen.com/top_10/celebrity/top-10-legendary-native-americans_1p.html
The American Thanksgiving celebrates a heavily fictionalized story of pilgrims and Native Americans sitting down to a bountiful, peaceful feast. However, the first Thanksgiving probably consisted a handful of starving settlers dumbfounded that they were still alive and eating food previously thought to be inedible, like eel and corn.
Thankfully, they had Native Americans like Squanto to show them what to eat to survive. They repaid Squanto and his people by enslaving, massacring and destroying their entire way of life. However, many great Native Americans refused to take it lying down. They fought back, proving themselves smarter and better warriors until the sheer number of Europeans and their diseases overwhelmed them.

Crotch Bomber Kicks Off Massive DNA Destructionhttp://rense.com/general89/crotch.htm
'The Cartel's silent, soft-kill weapons of mass DNA destruction are all around us. Depleting uranium, chemtrails, street and pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines, genetically modified foods, fluorides, aspartames, psychotropics, and now naked body scanners are used against us for a very basic reason: To keep us from waking up to their crimes by damaging our DNAs. The Cartel's latest cloaked attack against mankind are their so-called Backscatter X-ray Machines, that expose the naked bodies of children, women and men at busy airport security portals; all based on the flimsy ploy of simply one "crotch bomber" at Christmas time of '09 in Detroit. Now suddenly, these Backscatter machines will be showing up at over 125 US airports. These virtual strip searches, in addition to damaging our DNAs, will be setting the stage for the expansion of our world-wide cancer epidemic. Any amount of radiation is dangerous, as it is cumulative, and poses a serious threat to all living cells through which it passes, leaving behind a trail of destruction and genetic mutations.'

'Who says Al Qaeda takes credit for a bombing? Rita Katz. Who gets us bin Laden tapes? Rita Katz. Who gets us prettymuch all information telling us Muslims are bad? Rita Katz? Rita Katz is the Director of Site Intelligence, primary source for intelligence used by news services, Homeland Security, the FBI and CIA. What is her qualification? She served in the Israeli Defense Force. She has a college degree and most investigative journalists believe the Mossad “helps” her with her information. We find no evidence of any qualification whatsoever of any kind. A bartender has more intelligence gathering experience. Nobody verifies her claims. SITE says Al Qaeda did it, it hits the papers. SITE says Israel didn’t do it, that hits the papers too. What does SITE really do? They check the internet for “information,” almost invariably information that Israel wants reported and it is sold as news, seen on American TV, reported in our papers and passed around the internet almost as though it were actually true. Amazing.'

DARPA: Hacking Nature to Create Weapons of the Godshttp://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2009/12/military-science-hack-stormy-skies-to-lord-over-lightning/
The military’s scientific fringe has toyed with weather manipulation and geo-engineering for years. Recently, ideas like adding iron to the ocean, or covering the Arctic with dust, have been floated in a bid stave off global warming. But the Pentagon’s also got a long track record of plotting to screw with enemy climates and improve their own operational abilities. Now, Darpa’s got a new target for geo-hacking science, and if they can make it work, we might see modern firearms making way for weapons of the mythological variety. The out-there research agency is soliciting proposals that would harness control over “the natural mechanism of lightning initiation” by coming up with a way to launch manmade lightning bolts, and prevent or redirect natural lightning strikes — and their accompanying destruction.

Catholic Orders Used Poor Kids for Slave Laborhttp://www.courthousenews.com/2010/01/04/23309.htm
A US federal class action states members of two Catholic religious orders trafficked in children for decades, taking poor kids from their parents in Britain and Malta, promising to educate them in Australia, then subjecting them to a life of forced labor and physical and sexual abuse. Three former "child migrants" say the Congregation of Christian Brothers and the Order of the Sisters of Mercy took subsidies from the British, Australian and Maltese governments for the children's upkeep and education
. Instead, they but kept the money and gave the children almost nothing, forcing them to beg for scraps of food. The now-grown children say the religious orders took them from their homes under false pretenses and forced them into a horrific life of unending work, ignorance, violence and rape. Australian officials estimate as many as 10,000 "child migrants" emigrated from Britain to Australia between 1947 and 1967, many without their patents’ consent.

Apartheid lawsuit goes forward against Ford, GM, IBMAhttp://rawstory.com/2010/01/apartheid-lawsuit-ford-gm-ibm/
A federal judge in Manhattan has allowed a lawsuit to go forward against IBM, General Motors, Ford and other corporations over their roles in South Africa's apartheid. The automakers are accused of providing armored vehicles used to suppress marches and protests, and of assisting security forces tasked with identifying and torturing anti-apartheid leaders. US District Judge Shira Scheindlin also allowed claims against IBM to proceed, for providing the technology that allowed the South African government to carry out "geographic segregation and denationalization."
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of "all black South African citizens" for the suffering they endured under the 1960 to 1994 apartheid regime. In an earlier ruling, Judge Scheindlin said the US corporations should be tried over claims they "aided and abetted torture, extrajudicial killing and apartheid." Michael Hausfeld, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said the lawsuit "sets a new standard … concerning fundamental human rights abuses on a global level."
Banks fight to kill proposed consumer protection agencyhttp://www.mcclatchydc.com/economy/story/75997.html
Though virtually every cause of the nation's recent financial crisis was rooted in weak consumer protection, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is leading the fight against the proposed agency on grounds that it would make credit less available and more costly. The American Bankers Association, the Independent Community Bankers of America, and the Financial Services Roundtable also oppose the measure. New Dems Met With Wall St. Execs While Pushing to Weaken Financial Reformhttp://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/01/conservadems_met_with_wall_st_execs_while_pushing.php
The TPMuckraker web site reports a group of moderate Democrats held private meetings this fall with executives from Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase, while in the midst of a successful campaign to water down legislation to beef up regulation of the financial industry. In mid October, members of the NDC, a caucus of pro-business Democrats met executives from Goldman, and JP Morgan.
Sandwiched between those events was a fundraiser for the NDC, 15 of whose members sit on the House Financial Services committee, which oversees the financial regulatory overhaul currently making its way through Congress. A recent article in BusinessWeek reported Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase and others lobbied the NDC to weaken the administration's plan. The push succeeded. The recently-passed House bill won't require banks to trade derivatives on regulated platforms. Reps Bean, Himes, and Crowley, all members of NDC, received campaign contributions from JP Morgan for $7000, $5400, and $5000 respectively.
