Colombians Consider Uribe management a Failure http://www.insidecostarica.com/dailynews/2010/march/15/latinamerica10031503.htm

BOGOTA - The presidential administration of Álvaro Uribe in Colombia has represented an economic, social and social security failure, despite campaigns to the contrary, assured on Saturday Colombians who live in Venezuela.According to the director of the Association of Colombians living in Venezuela Juan Carlos Tanus, poverty, unemployment, violence and the huge number of displaced people prove the falsity of a successful government.

We have 28 million poor people in a country of 45 million inhabitants, over 60 percent of the population; to which it should be added an unemployment rate of 16 percent, said in statements to Prensa Latina.Regarding the policy of Uribes Democratic Security, the community leader said the situation remains unchanged. We continue with 20,000 deaths per year and the painful process of mass graves for crimes against humanity committed by the army, he said.

For Tanus, the need to change this reality sustains his bid to run for diputy of the House of Representatives of Colombia in the legislative elections on Sunday. We want to transform society with actions as a humanitarian accord and the ongoing search for peace, stated the Colombian candidate, who explained his candidacy is for the only seat of the international division.Among the proposal in his campaign stand the return with dignity of Colombians to their motherland and increased role of residents abroad in the political life of Colombia.According to Tanus, 115,000 Colombians are registered to vote in Venezuela. We have expectations, although the mere participation in the process is a success, he said.
