MANIFESTO OF THE PEOPLE OF SARAYAKU KICHWA The native Kichwa people of Sarayaku respond to the threat of intervention and entry into our ancestral territory to restart mining activities denominated by oil in blocks 23 and 24 and to the various public statements made by government authorities in that oil activities in these blocks will begin very soon, these are our concerns expressed to the State institutions and authorities of government and for national and international public opinion wich are as follows:
1. Reaffirm our firm and unwavering position of rejection of any meddling and interference by external actors who intend to illegally enter our territory under extractive purposes over our ancestral property. 2. Remember Assembly resolution adopted in 2002 Sarayaku, to reject any dialogue, or socialization approach that is related to the purpose of boosting oil production.
3. The blocks 23 and 24 are being imposed without consultation and appointed by successive governments for the people of Sarayaku. Ya, those are areas of life and property of nationality belonging to the Kichwa, Shuar and Achuar., Incorporated into their life plans. 4. The opening of irresponsible oil projects in the area Sarayaku generate irreversible impacts to the environment, culture and alteration of the social life of families in the communities causing major divisions.
