Iran’s refutation of US’ lies of nuclear weapons censored by corporate media, political “leaders” http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2010m3d9-Irans-refutation-of-US-lies-of-nuclear-weapons-censored-by-corporate-media-political-leaders

Levying war against the US is defined as treason in the US Constitution. The political and corporate media oligarchy who lied to levy war in Iraq committed treason against the US.The political and corporate media fascists now lie for war with Iran. The latest lie is one of egregious omission: refusing to communicate to the American public Iran’s refutation of US government lying rhetoric of a nuclear weapons program in Iran; printed below. When media and government silence the voice of opposition, this shouts-out as propaganda that middle school students are taught to recognize.

Economic Warfare? Europe versus Wall Street http://coto2.wordpress.com/2010/03/10/economic-warfare-europe-versus-wall-street/

Wall Streets is headed toward international pariah status thanks to two recent actions by the European Union (EU).On Tuesday, the EU announced that it was banning Wall Street banks from the lucrative government bond business in Europe. They didn’t express official concern or fire off a warning shot. They simply banned Wall Street from financing government bond deals like the one Goldman Sachs sold to Greece. The Guardian pointed out that Wall Street bond business from European governments has gone down over the last two years. Now the business is gone period. In effect, the EU has labeled Wall Streets business tactics as too dangerous for their governments to handle.

Then on Wednesday, the President of the European Commission said that the EU was considering a ban on government debt speculation through Credit Default Swaps (CDS) President José Manuel Barroso announced that, “the Commission will examine closely the relevance of banning purely speculative naked sales on Credit Default Swaps of sovereign debt.” While not an outright ban, the threat of banning CDS on national debt would be a major loss for the world’s financial speculators, particularly those in the United States and Great Britain.

Sink The Boats- A Former Israeli Navy Officer Breaks the Hush http://axisoflogic.com/artman/publish/Article_58815.shtml

It is well known that fisherman in Gaza are among the worst affected by the Israeli blockade. Il Manifesto correspondant Michele Giorgio met with a former Israeli Navy officer, now working with Breaking The Silence, who gave a first hand account of how they were trained to police fishermen. It’s an unusual atmosphere to discuss the drama that Palestinian fishermen live each day in the waters off the coast of Gaza.

We are in a coffee shop in Tel Aviv, at the corner between Mazarik Street and Rabin Public square, and Brazilian rhythms match the festive spirit of the people who crowd the area. Nevertheless the captain of Israeli Navy, Ido M., 29 years (who asked us not to reveal his identity because he is still a reservist) chose it on purpose. “With this confusion nobody will lend attention to our conversation, for me it will be simpler not to be identified” explains the captain, looking intently at the representative of the Israeli association of soldiers and officials “Breaking the silence”, who organised this interview.

For a long time Ido M., who until December 2007 was in charge of a “Dabur” class patrol vessel, wanted “to break off Hush” on the behaviour of the Israeli warships against the fishermen of Gaza. But he could do it only after having left the military career. “I am still recalled every year for three weeks, but I’m not going any more in the sea of Gaza, I refused to do that and the Navy assigned me to an office”, adds the captain preparing himself to answer to our questions.

Federal Court Upholds Environmental Genocide Targeting Navajos http://bsnorrell.blogspot.com/2010/03/federal-court-upholds-environmental.html

President Obama's new focus on nuclear power plants comes as federal courts uphold uranium mining which could poison the drinking water of Navajos. Already Cold War uranium mining has left behind generations of death, disease and tragedy for Navajos. Now, uranium mining is targeting the Church Rock, N.M., area, already the site of the 1979 uranium mill tailings spill, which flowed down the Rio Puerco.

A federal appeals court has upheld a Nuclear Regulatory Commission decision that allows a company to leach uranium at an aquifer that supplies drinking water to thousands of Navajos in northwestern New Mexico. A 10th U.S. Court of Appeals panel concluded in a 2-1 opinion Monday that the NRC took the "hard look" required by the National Environmental Policy Act and its decision to issue a license was not arbitrary. Eastern Dine Against Uranium Mining, the Southwest Research and Information Center, and ranchers Grace Sam and Marilyn Morris challenged the NRC's approval of permits for Hydro Resources Inc. to do in-situ leach mining near the Navajo communities of Crownpoint and Church Rock.

Is Bolivia heading for Andean- Amazonian capitalism? http://boliviarising.blogspot.com/2010/03/is-bolivia-heading-for-andean-amazonian.html

In spite of its considerable natural resources, this country of 10 million inhabitants is one of the poorest in Latin America. In 1952 Bolivia went through a major revolutionary upheaval leading to land reform, nationalization of mines, free, compulsory education and universal suffrage. From 1971 to 1978, Bolivia was under the iron rule of Hugo Banzer’s military regime. From 1985 on, the worst kind of neo-liberal policies were enforced on the country. To bring 20 years of such policies to an end, social movements in Bolivia waged fierce, heroic battles. Finally in 2005, for the first time in Bolivian history, a representative of the country’s Indian majority was elected president. 2

Evo Morales’ government has undertaken a vast programme of reforms, not necessarily in themselves a clear break with capitalism. Their purpose, in particular, is to establish full, comprehensive rights for an Indian majority that has suffered oppression for over five centuries, and to regain public control of natural resources so that they can be used to serve the economic, social and cultural rights of Bolivia’s citizens.

Honduras: Opposition Calls Consultation on Assembly http://www.insidecostarica.com/dailynews/2010/march/10/centralamerica10031003.htm

The National Popular Resistance Front (FNRP) announced on Tuesday the carrying out of a consultation to the population to create a constituent assembly to refound the country. The Front specified in a press release that the action will take place on June 28, a year after the coup that overthrew President Manuel Zelaya. The coup army, which is supported by the leaderships of traditional parties, business associations and the church, prevented the carrying out on that day of a national poll on a constituent that was organized by the government of Zelaya.

In the document, the Front underlines that assembly will "represent the will of the people to build a real democracy and transform the system of injustice and repression established by the oligarchy."It also convened the Second Meeting for the Refoundation of Honduras that will take place in La Esperanza city on March 12 to 14.

In the press release, the Front condemns the US interference in the internal affairs of the country, which is carried out by its Ambassador Hugo Llorens. The FNRP maintains that Llorens "tries to give some legitimacy to de facto regime in a coarse way claiming a false national dialogue that ignores the rejection of the majority of the population to the dictatorship."It reiterates its non-recognition of the government of conservative President Porfirio Lobo, who was elected in the questioned November 29 elections.
