Israel envoy: U.S. ties at their lowest ebb in 35 years http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1156467.html
Israel's ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, says U.S.-Israeli relations face their worst crisis in 35 years. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton harshly criticized the announcement last week of Israeli plans to expand the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood in East Jerusalem during Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel.
Clinton said the US seeks an official response from Israel on whether this was a bureaucratic mistake or a deliberate act carried out for political reasons. Clinton said the US also wants a reversal of the decision to approve construction of new housing units. Finally, the US wants Israel to make substantial gestures toward the Palestinians, such as releasing Palestinian prisoners, withdrawing the Israeli army from additional areas of the West Bank and easing the siege of the Gaza Strip.
comment-but aid increased under obama to israel...wink wink.
