The socialist revolution experienced by the Venezuelan people nowadays may be compared to the pro-independence battle led by Venezuelans against the Spanish empire to achieve the freedom of the country, a battle which has defeated other empires pretending to keep lethargic Simon Bolivar"s homeland throughout 200 years.The statement was said by Roberto Hernandez Montoya, guest speaker of the solemn session carried out at the National Assembly to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Venezuela"s Independence. During his speech this Friday, Hernandez expressed that the daring of the socialist revolution may be compared to the avant-garde battle in 1811, when the greatest imperial power of the era was challenged.

“We are, then, used to challenge and defeat empires. You are all invited to this permanent party, the most beautiful ever,” That independence meant the decline of some empires for the benefit of others and it changed the destiny of a complete continent. “It was such radical that project that still costs us dear.”In virtue of that liberating vanguard which has represented Venezuela, the Nation still undergoes the attacks of empires, especially the United States. This Government is worried because from Venezuela are claimed the most essential rights, such as food, education and health.
