The Welfare Party (Hizb al-Rafah) of Mauritania condemned the Special Tribunal for Lebanon's (STL) indictment targeting the Lebanese resistance.In a statement issued, the party stated that "through this false indictment, the Lebanese Resistance would find itself in another confrontation which requires our support by its side", considering it [the resistance] as the most important and noble phenomenon which was founded to remain.The Welfare Party statement further read, "The honorable stances of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon and other national forces,

in addition to the great sacrifices they presented in attempt to defend the country and Palestine, imposes on our party in Mauritania to announce the following:- Our condemnation and total refusal of the indictment which aims only at striking the Lebanese and Syrian resistance.- Our support to the Lebanese Resistance, especially Hizbullah and the leader of the Mujahedeen (resistance fighters) Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

- We call upon all Lebanese political parties to work on serving the public interests instead of the sectarian ones.- We call for considering the Lebanese National unity as a base for dealing with this indictment.- We confirm our support to the current Lebanese government, which the indictment was established to target its national reform project.- We question the excessive Western concern regarding the Libyan, Syrian, and Lebanese situations, while remaining silent regarding the oppression imposed on other countries like Bahrain."
