Berri Reveals Oil Surprise: Lebanon’s Fields The Richest in Region
Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri announced Saturday to the Lebanese people good news signed by the international oil company Spectrum, regarding positive information about oil reserves off Lebanon's shores.According to the revealed information published in "as-Safir" Lebanese daily, these reserves represent a wealth that would not only allow Lebanon to enter the club of oil countries, but also oocupy a front-row seat in it.Berri's information are based on Spectrum's specialized conference that convened in London on October 17. "The Southern Lebanese sea is the richest in oil reserves, predictably the best in the region," the conclusions stated, and noted that " the great predictions aren't limited only to gas but includes oil also."They further highlighted that "the Southern Lebanese quantities are three times superior to those to be found anywhere else, especially in when compared to the recent "Israeli" discoveries.""Thus, Lebanon's southern territorial waters will turn to one of the most important oil and gas areas in the world," Spectrum added in its conference. In parallel, Berri urged Lebanese authorities "to rush in addressing this file and stop wasting the precious time."In remarks to the same daily, the Speaker feared that Spectrum report warns that "Lebanon's delay in completing the necessary procedures for exploration, will lead to shaking our credibility and others confidence in us.""The persist in wasting time will push companies to invest in other places," he added.Meanwhile, Berri appealed to the government "to move quickly in investing this energy that will pay off our debts.""Let us stop this persistent loss, not to say the crime, against our economy," the Speaker concluded.
