Brazil torpedoes Iranian oppositionists’ plot: Iranian MP http://www.mehrnews.com/en/newsdetail.aspx?NewsID=1345113

Iranian MP Zohreh Elahian has said that the Brazilian parliament successfully foiled the plot hatched by the Iranian oppositionists which was meant to pressurize the Brazilian government to alter its policies toward Iran.Elahian, who is the chairperson of the Majlis Human Rights Committee, made the remarks in an interview with the Fars news agency published on Sunday, in reference to the fact that 270 Brazilian lawmakers recently voted in favor of the stance that the Brazilian government has adopted toward Iran after a statement against Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff was read out at the parliament,

in which she was criticized for the positive position that she has taken toward Iran. The statement, backed by the Zionist lobby in Brazil, was orchestrated by Iranian counter-revolutionary elements, particularly Shirin Ebadi, a so-called human rights activist and a Nobel laureate, after Rousseff rebuffed her request for a meeting. It seems that Ebadi is making endeavors to take advantage of the negative stance that Rousseff once adopted on human rights situation in Iran. However, Rousseff revised its stance after Elahian sent a letter to her, in which she briefed the Brazilian president on Western governments’ hostile policies toward the Islamic Republic and described the plots against Iran devised by certain countries’ intelligence agencies.

During the interview, Elahian stated that the Brazilian parliamentarians’ move brought ignominy on the United States, the Zionist regime, and seditionists. Even the Brazilian officials and media said that the plot was designed by the Zionists and enjoyed the support of the U.S. State Department and that Ebadi won the Nobel Prize due to her subservience to Iran’s enemies, Elahian added. In conclusion, she said that if the Iranian officials keep the Brazilian president informed of the realities on the ground in the Islamic Republic, she will be able to help thwart the Israeli lobby’s efforts in Brazil.
