“Nations advocate peace and justice; Iranian and Venezuelan governments will do their best to support the human rights, their countries’ sovereignty as well as international peace unitedly; unfortunately hegemonic powers are more aggressive than the past and show unprecedented movements foolishly,” the Venezuela president said. Chavez noted that Tehran and Caracas have never invaded any country but some other arrogant states have killed thousands of thousands of peoples in their invasions and nuclear bombardments. The Venezuelan president underscored that however the Iranian and Venezuelan nations are victims of the superpowers’ greed, but are introduced by hegemonic powers’ propaganda machine as warmongers. “We are engaged in a battle but battle is against poverty and backwardness,” Chavez expressed. He stressed the need for further expansion of relations between Third World countries and the South-South countries. The visiting Iranian president for his part stated that hegemonic system is at final moments of its life. The Iranian President also in a meeting with the Iranian economic activists in Venezuela emphasized on expansion of relations between Caracas and Tehran in various fields including economy. “Activating Venezuela-Iran economic potentials is in the interest of the two countries,” Ahmadinejad added. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez welcomed visiting Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the presidential palace on Monday. The two leaders met in Caracas on Monday afternoon on the first leg of a four-nation tour that will also take Ahmadinejad to Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador. Chavez accuses the US and its allies of wrongly demonizing Iran. On Sunday, he rebuffed calls by US officials in support of Tehran.
'What the empire does is make you laugh, in its desperation to do something they won't be able to do: dominate this world,' Chavez said on Venezuela television before Ahmadinejad arrived there.
Iran–Venezuela relations have been strengthened substantially in recent years.
Trade between Venezuela and Iran is growing steadily and the two countries have launched joint ventures in a number of sectors, including energy, agriculture, housing, and infrastructure.
