Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghadanfar Rokn Abadi stressed Friday that "Iran will not deviate one iota from its support to the Syrian regime."In an interview with "as-Safir" Lebanese daily, Abadi said: "We will not lose confidence in the Damascus regime.""The latest bombings resemble a powerful paper in Syria's hands," he stated. However, he acknowledged that what happened was a severe blow. The Iranian ambassador further confirmed that "such attacks would open the way for the regime to act firmly with the terrorists, and would give it full powers to tighten its iron grip.""It will also strengthen the international Russian and Chinese position in supporting the regime, especially in light of what they face from pressure and blackmail," he clarified.Abadi highlighted that the Syrian regime still enjoys wide popularity i.e. confirmed from adverse sides."Attacking the regime is actually a hit for the people. Thus, the terrorists won't achieve their plans," he added and pointed out that "Syria is part of the resistance axis."The Iranian diplomat also clarified that "Damascus isn't the real target." "It is the resistance forces in face of US and "Israel."
On the side that stands behind the bombing, Abadi ruled out that the so-called Free Syrian Army is responsible for such an attack."Such attack results from countries' intelligence," he said and mentioned that "the so-called Free Syrian Army is just a tool that lacks power or influence."He also clarified that "this explosion is the implementation of a foreign scheme which primarily benefits "Israel"."Abadi also commented on the Chinese- Russian veto at the United Nations Security Council by saying, "This is a turning point in the Syrian battle."On the other hand, Abadi denied the "Israeli" accusation that Tehran blew up an "Israeli" bus in Bulgaria.""We have been accustomed to such accusations since the Islamic Revolution," he said and recalled the similar "Israeli" accusations to Iran in Thailand, India and other bombings.
