The Imperilaists command,colonies obey? http://www.telesurtv.net/noticias/opinion/1966/el-imperio-manda-las-colonias-obedecen/

From the 90's, the world was under total dominance of governments and the U.S. capital, which started to impose their decisions on all governments and peoples, who were treated as colonial subjects. When everything seemed to be calm in the global empire, dominated by Uncle Sam,there emerged a resistance. In Latin America, plus Cuba, other nations began to elect anti-imperialist governments. In the Middle East, U.S. had to resort to military invasions in order to maintain control over oil, sacrificing thousands of lives of Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians and Pakistanis.

In this context, there  emerged in Iran a government determined not to submit to U.S. interests Within its national development policy,it  installed nuclear power program for peaceful purposes and that what intolerable for the Empire. The White House does not accept democracy among peoples, which means that all countries have equal rights. They do not accept the sovereignty of other peoples nor does it  admits every people and their governments to control their natural resources.

U.S. transferred nuclear technology to Pakistan and Israel, which now possess the atomic bomb. But do not tolerate Iran's access to nuclear technology even for peaceful purposes. Why? Where do they  derive such imperial powers? thru any international convention? No, just its military arrogance. In Israel, more than twenty years ago , Moshai Vanunu, who worked at the nuclear power plant, preoccupied with the insecurity that it represented for the entire region, reported that the government already had the bomb. Result: he was kidnapped and sentenced and  imprisonment to a life sentence, but  commuted to 20 years, after a great international pressure. Until now lives under house arrest, prohibited from contacting any foreigner.

We are all against the arms race and foreign military bases in our countries. We oppose the use of nuclear energy, due to high risks and the misuse of vast economic resources on military expenditures. The Iranian government dares to defend its sovereignty. The U.S. administration did not invade Iran militarily because it  has 60 million inhabitants, is a potential oil power and has a nationalist government. The conditions are very different from the quagmire called Iraq.

Fortunately, the Brazilian diplomacy and other governments are involved in the race. We hope that  the rights of Iran are respected , like any other country without military threats. We still advocate campaigns to increase throughout the world, military and nuclear disarmament. Hopefully sooner reallocate resources for military spending to solve problems like hunger, which affects more than one billion people.

Social movements, environmentalists, churches and international organizations recently met in Cochabamba, a global environmental conference, convened by President Evo Morales. It was decided to prepare a global plebiscite in April 2011. People will be convened to consider and vote whether they agree with the existence of foreign military bases in their countries with excessive military spending and the fact that Southern Hemisphere countries continue to pay the account of the environmental damage practiced by polluting industries in the North. The fight will be long, but this week we can celebrate a small victory against imperialism.
