OH Dept. of Health wonders if radiation is causing cancer cluster http://www.wtol.com/Global/story.asp?S=12480445
The Ohio Department of Health is still trying to determine why so many kids in eastern Sandusky County are getting sick from cancer. Currently, they're searching for radiation. They're putting testing devices in the cancer patients' homes. The device is no bigger than a normal business card.
Dave Hisey has eleven radiation testers around his home, including his son Tanner's room. Tanner is battling leukemia right now. Hisey's step-daughter Tyler Smith is in remission from leukemia. Both are part of the childhood cancer study. The family has seen testing done on the air and water before the radiation testing.
"You lose faith that they're going to find anything at this point because it seems like everywhere you look there's nothing to be found," Hisey said.Wendy Brown, whose daughter Alexa passed away from cancer last August, says she's not optimistic about the radiation testing. "They're doing it. I don't think they're going to find anything, but you never know."
