Between 14 and 18 May, Madrid will host the People's Summit "Linking Alternatives IV" will bring together more than a hundred organizations worldwide to denounce "the neoliberal capitalist project and representing the European Union (EU) in the world. " The organizers of the event, made the call to the event which begins this Friday to express his deep "rejection of the neoliberal capitalist project and representing the EU, the bloc will hold a meeting next week with leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean (EU-LAC). 

The People's Summit is to "unmask" the EU whose activities harm the living conditions, social and environmental issues, according to organizers. The alternative meeting will seek to adhere to the Permanent People's Tribunal, "a non-governmental tribunal where such crimes judge the economic, social and environmental perpetrated by multinationals with the connivance of the governments," say the initiators of this meeting . 

The Permanent Peoples Tribunal, had its first meeting in the capital of Austria (2006), quoted in denouncing abuses of the service sector, agri-food, finance and telecommunications by transnational corporations. In 2008, the second meeting took place in Peru, at which time complaints have been filed against 21 multinational corporations involving ten of the 27 European Union states. 

The intention is to show the desire for "solidarity with the victims of systematic violations of Human Rights and all the struggles of resistance against the policies of the EU, within and outside its borders." Some of the activities taking place at this summit include more than one hundred seminars, debates and round tables and cultural work to be undertaken in the Faculty of Mathematics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. 

On the other hand, there will be also a Radio Forum will integrate the functions of community radio stations, networks and several actors from the new technological trends. Through its website, the People's Summit explained that this meeting will serve to "put the focus not only multinational companies but also in institutions, policies and EU players who are accomplices to increase power and the impunity with which TNCs operate. " 

At the meeting in Madrid, will be acting as jury, counsel estadouniense transnational crimes specialist, Judith Chomsky, the writer and professor of political science at the Autonomous University of Madrid, Carlos Taibo, the indigenous human rights defender from Ecuador, Blanca Chancoso, and Nora Cortinas, a member of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo.
