In the German parliament the Left Party demanded to stop all weapons exports to 'Israel'. In the past decade Germany has exported weapons worth 646 million Euros to Israel including tanks and armored vehicles. This was clearly violating political principles of taking human right conditions into account.The Left Party filed a total of 16 motions to stop weapons exports to countries including Libya, Syria, Saudi-Arabia and Bahrain.

To the later Germany exported weapons worth 22.8 million Euros including machineguns, rifles and helicopter engines.The government though argued that many arms deals were passed under previous legislations. And if Germany did not sell the weapons, other countries would. 

Germany is the third largest arms exporter with only the US and Russia selling more weapons to the world. Last year alone Germany exported weapons worth 2.3 billion Euros mainly to Turkey, Greece and South Africa.While Germany likes to present itself as a peace loving country, the figures indicate something else too. The recent uprising also saw many regimes using German weapons to shed blood, therefore the opposition demands more transparency when it comes to weapons exports.
