Iran says the United States is pursuing all possible avenues to provoke a military confrontation between Middle Eastern states in efforts to salvage the Zionist regime. Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Wednesday that the White House has hatched numerous plots in the Middle East and is trying to introduce a country other than the Zionist regime as a threat to the region, IRNA reported. 

He added that Washington, in an attempt to rescue the Israel regime, is struggling to drag the Islamic Republic of Iran into a war. The Islamic Republic of Iran and Arab countries in the Middle East have taken positive steps towards promoting amicable relations in recent years. Senior Iranian and Arab officials have exchanged several diplomatic missions over the past five years. 

Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman said in early May that Iran has been always seeking to promote peace and security in the Middle East region. “We strongly believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as an important country, has been always seeking (to promote) peace and security in the region,” he stated during a meeting with visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in Muscat.
