What is particularly troubling is that most democratic and even center-left regimes do not sacrifice the mass social movements on the altar of “security” when they normalize relations with an adversary. Certainly the Right, especially the US, protects its former clients, allies, exiled right-wing oligarch and even admitted terrorists from extradition requests issued by Venezuela, Cuba and Argentina. Mass murders and bombers of civilian airplanes manage to live comfortably in Florida. 

Why Venezuela submits to the Right-wing demands of the Colombians, while complaining about the US protecting terrorists guilty of crimes in Venezuela, can only be explained by Chavez ideological shift to the Right, making Venezuela more vulnerable to pressure for greater concessions in the future.

Chavez is no longer interested in the support from the radical left: His definition of state policy revolves around securing the ‘stability’ of Bolivarian socialism in one country, even if it means sacrificing Colombian militants to a police state and pro-democracy movements in Honduras to an illegitimate US-imposed regime.

[NOW IM NOT DEFENDING CHAVEZ MEDIATION WITH LOBO IN HONDURAS...BUT WHERE FARC IS CONCERNED MR PETRAS IS ABSOLUTLY WRONG...VENEZUELA HAS ALOT AT STAKE IT CANNOT AFFORD TO GIVE LEGITIMACY TO ACTS WICH HAVE NO LEGITIMACY...ITS ONE THING FOR FARC TO TRAFFICK DRUGS TO SURVIVE  WITHIN ITS OWN REGIONS,BUT TO TRAFFICK INTERNATIONALLY (MAINLY SOUTH AMERICA) IS THAT LEGITIMATE?OR TERRORIZING CIVILIANS IS THAT LEGITIMATE?COURSE IT ISNT...(CRITICIZE THAT MR PETRAS)

Maybe MR Petras is forgetting the facts…that FARC itself is to blame..,.had it applied a zero tolerance policy within its ranks against kidnapping civilians..then everyone could openly back FARC..meanwhile Venezuela cant afford it..due to capital flight and enormous economic pressures from outside…it has to maintain a certain level of legitimacy..however…its no secret us state deprtment has been itching to place Venezuela in its list of state sponsoring terrorist watchlist..this move if applied will bring about a new round of econmic hardships..and who will benefitt?venezuelas left?who mr petras?instead of defending FARC’S insane lunacy and drug trafficking wich spills over into venezuela and Venezuela takes the heat internationally..

Maybe they should stop..Go ahead target Police,Military and even Officials of Colombian State..thats fair and legitimate in a guerrilla war..What isn't is kidnapping civilians..that makes them just as sick as AUC,or LOS rostrojos,Aguillas Negras..MR Petras knows this well..he shouldnt go blaming Chavez for problems he hasnt created..maybe MR Petras should stop acting like a mindless drone for indefensible acts committed by a group wich was born out of legitimacy but has descended into something causing more harm then good for not just Colombia,but Venezuela…consider this..

If it wasnt for the Colombia-Venezuela reapproachment,(DRUG TRAFFICER-RECENTLY DEPORTED TO VENEZUELA FROM COLOMBIA)Makhled would have not been sent back to Venezuela..but rather Washington..and we all know what would happen then..Washington would pay him ,release him and all sorts of lies and bogus claims would have been made against Venezuela,…and then what?then the lies in DC would turn Chavez into a international drug kingpin sensational media spectacle for International condemnantion..and all based on lies mind you..in the same fashion that Roger Noriega and his ilk have been itching to prove and claiming for years anyway…now there is no such link..but Makhled was willing to make it up and Washington Neocons were there waiting for that golden egg…

Also he would have made up more lies about Hezbollah,Iranian Revolutionary Guards operating in Venezuela and and Washington would have Chavez and Venezuela listed as ''State Sponsoring terrorists State...then economic thunder would strike upon Venezuela more so then the hollow sanctions on state run Petroleos of Venezuela….and who would alliviate the country then MR Petras?tell me?you?the international left?the FARC?No, here’s what would happen..Venezuela would be more economically isolated ,deeper sanctions would follow ,less international relations for the nation..and more opposition against chavez internally would begin..then he’d probably be voted out by opposition or masses in discontent to more hardships..
