A top Iranian security official has described the U.S. policies as “modern dictatorship,” saying the “nuclear terrorism and nuclear hypocrisy” are tools in the hands of the Unites States to push ahead with its international policies.Ali Baqeri, the deputy secretary of Supreme National Security Council, made the remarks on Monday during the closing ceremony of the second International Conference on Disarmament and Non-proliferation hosted by the Foreign Ministry Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) in northern Tehran.

“The nuclear terrorism and the nuclear hypocrisy are two tools in the hands of the U.S. modern dictatorship,” he said. Nuclear terrorism denotes the use, or threat of the use, of nuclear weapons or radiological weapons in acts of terrorism, including attacks against facilities where radioactive materials are present.“The U.S. on the one hand, portrays itself as the upholder of the nuclear disarmament and hinders the nations’ progress on this pretext, and on the other hand, tries to destroy the nations’ efforts to gain access to scientific achievements,” Baqeri stated. 

He went on to say that the most important factor jeopardizing the international security is the production, stockpiling, and the use of the weapons of mass destruction, especially nuclear weapons, by the major powers.“The U.S. is continuously and unconditionally supporting the only regime in the Middle East which possesses nuclear warheads, namely the Zionist regime,” he said.Elsewhere in his remarks, Baqeri criticized the U.S. government for supporting the Zionist regime’s unmonitored nuclear program.
