Palestinian sources revealed to the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan in its issue today that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas sent several messages to President Bashar Al-Assad since the beginning of the events with a special envoy in which he stressed solidarity of the Palestinian people with Syria, the wishing for the good and stability of Syria...he sources added that Abbas voiced confidence in his letters that Syria under the leadership of President al-Assad will soon emerge from the crisis stronger than it was because Syria is an essential foundation of stability in the Middle East
and of important strategic depth for the Palestinian issue, placing President Al-Assad in the end picture of the results of the Palestinian reconciliation.Abbas thanked Syria for its support and commitment to the reconciliation and Palestinian President also briefed and included Al-Assad in the ongoing Palestinian movement to enter the United Nations in September next for the recognition of a Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 territory.The sources said that Palestinian President gave, since the beginning of the crisis, instructions to all the Palestinian political arenas to abide by a non-interference stance in the internal affairs of sister Syria,
and to refrain from dealing with any person or entity attempting to tamper with or damage Syria’s government. He also instructed them to show solidarity with Syria in all Arab and international forums and to refuse to intervene in their internal affairs.According to Palestinian sources, the the position of President Abbas was received with a «positive response from the Syrian leadership, which no doubt will not abandon the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination and establishing their independent state with its capital Jerusalem no matter what the pressures and conspiracies are».
