Tuesday"s debate within the National Assembly is going to tackle the issue in penitentiary centers and parliamentarians will request to open an investigation on some Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) linked to the irregularities taking place in some prisons, specifically regarding disturbances in said places. The information was given by the president of the Permanent Committee on Religion and Penitentiary Regimes, Yelitza Santaella, this Monday in a televised interview.
Over 5,000 people of the Bolivarian National Guard, the Interior and Justice Ministry, the General Attorney"s Office and Republic"s Ombudsman"s Office have been working to return the peace to the penitentiary centers EL Rodeo I and El Rodeo II, located in the state of Miranda, in a town at the east of Caracas.
One of the inmates rescued by the National Guard from El Rodeo II denounced on Sunday that right-wing Human Rights and political groups have given instructions to the gang kingpins detainees to generate chaos and blame the Government of such situation.Santaella underscored that the Government has acted abiding by the law, respecting the human rights and most of all consecrating the right to live and the security of the inhabitants in the surroundings to the prison.Nevertheless, the issue has been distorted by the Venezuelan right-wing and the media.
