President of Nicaragua - Latin America fights against economic, military, political tyranny
http://www.avn.info.ve/contenido/latin-america-fights-against-economic-military-political-tyranny In the framework of the birth of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, said this Thursday that the region is fighting "against an economic, military and political tyranny imposed by empires.""With the creation of the CELAC, we are proving that Latin America and the Caribbean is not anymore that region supplying soldiers and territories to invade other nations in our regions, like Cuba or Dominican Republic. Some people were betting against the creation of the CELAC," he stressed during the second session of the foundational summit of the CELAC, held in Caracas, Venezuela.Ortega pointed out that "now we can say that we are starting with this process of union and it is important to take into account the experience of the European Union. That is to say, we can not subjugate the CELAC to the orders of markets or financial profiteers, but to the sovereignty of CELAC's interests."The president of Nicaragua highlighted that the many fights in the region that have left million of martyrs, have also opened spaces in Latin American nations to make possible the creation of the CELAC.Giving power to the CELAC Ortega said that the potential of Petrocaribe; Caribbean Community (CARICOM); Union of South American Nations (UNASUR); Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) should be adapted to the just born Community of Latin American and Caribbean States."I am sure that if we select all the positive elements that have consolidated those subregional integration organs and we transfer them to this regional process, we will transform the CELAC into a power. We will be in better conditions to deal with the tyranny of global capitalism, which imposes the dictatorship of markets and speculative financial capitals."With respect to drug trafficking and organized crime, he said that those issues should be deal carefully, because their roots are in the countries at the North. They are the biggest consumers, but they do not assume their responsibility to fight against it or at least reduce its consumption."I think we must start demanding the United States to take necessary measures to reduce and end with consumption. Then, we will breathe," he added.Student passport Ortega proposed in the meeting the creation of a Latin American passport for students in the region, because it will be a way to motivate and include Latin American youth."It would be easy to implement and it would have an enormous impact on Latin American students," he explained. Electoral results in Nicaragua Ortega highlighted the electoral victory obtained last November 6 with 62.6% of the votes in his reelection, because it is a recognition from the entire people to the social, political and economic work performed since 2007."We have elections, but they are not controlled anymore by US troops like in 1928, but by Nicaraguan people."Ortega condemned the fact that the United States uses its power to veto to prevent some international organs from granting loans and financing to anti-imperialist countries."The imperial madness reaches that far. That has already changed, but Washington keeps talking as time were frozen, as they were still the owners of the Organization of American States (OAS)."
