Peruvians gathered on Friday outside the US Embassy to demand the release of five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unfairly held in that country since 1998.The peaceful demonstrators urged President Barack Obama to release Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, who were arrested while monitoring and gathering information on Florida-based terrorist groups operating against Cuba.Carrying banners and photos of The Cuban Five, the protesters condemned the policy of the US Administration towards Cuba and demanded the end of the blockade imposed on the Island for over 50 years. The mobilization was organized by the Peruvian Free The Five Committee led by Gustavo Espinoza, who said it was in solidarity with the international drive for their release, also running in the United States, scheduled to end tomorrow with a gathering outside the White House in Washington. He said that the cause of The Cuban Five symbolizes world dignity and "we will be back here as needed" until, sooner or later, the five Cuban heroes return to their homeland and their people.
