Ahmed added that the people of Saudi Arabia are “revolting and the revolt is spreading very soon across the country.”
He made the comments a few days after Saudi security forces opened fire on demonstrators in the Qatif region of Eastern Province, killing three people and injuring several others on July 8. “The Saudi government is trying to escalate the clashes or the killings in Qatif in Eastern Province because they believe in their minds that if we kill one Shia, we scare 10 Sunnis,” Ahmed stated.“The absence of international condemnation of their (Saudi regime) killing of young people is sick.”
Since February 2011, protesters have held demonstrations on an almost regular basis in Saudi Arabia, mainly in Qatif and the town of Awamiyah in Eastern Province, calling for the release of all political prisoners, freedom of expression and assembly, and an end to widespread discrimination. However, the demonstrations have turned into protests against the Al Saud regime, especially since November 2011, when Saudi security forces killed five protesters and injured many others in Eastern Province.Similar demonstrations have also been held in the capital, Riyadh, and the holy city of Medina over the past few weeks.
