Deputy Secretary of US Department of the Treasury Neal Steven Wolin is expected to arrive to Lebanon Tuesday in where he will meet senior Lebanese officials, Governor of Lebanon's Bank, and the Association of Banks.In this context, well- informed sources told "al-Joumhoria" Lebanese daily that "Cohen's visit will carry warnings to Lebanon of the consequences of the breach of financial sanctions imposed on Syria and Iran."
"Wolin will seek to reiterate his country's decision to control individual cases of financial deception," they added.The sources further noted to the US official recent warning visit to Switzerland, where he watched some of the files related to financial systems, countries and personalities that have been under international financial sanctions.For his part, Lebanese Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas, predicted that "Cohen's visit will be positive."In remarks to the same daily, Nahhas assured that there "is no negative information about the financial file in Lebanon."The procedures applied by the Central Bank of Lebanon and the Association of Banks have made this sector outside the framework of international accountability," he clarified[ED NOTES:ON WOLIN...
