Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has said that Israel’s refusal to join the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is an impediment to making the Middle East a nuclear weapons-free zone.Mohammad Khazaii made the remarks in a speech at the session of the United Nations Disarmament Commission in New York on Tuesday. The Zionist regime’s stockpile of nuclear weapons is posing a serious threat to regional and international security, Khazaii stated. “Iran proposed the idea of making the Middle East a nuclear weapons-free zone in 1974 in order to counter this threat. However, the efforts to create such a zone have failed so far due to the Zionist regime’s refusal to join the NPT,” he added. The only way to remove the danger of nuclear weapons is their total eradication,” he added.
