At 10:30 PM, Syrian time, FSA commanders directly informed SUA and LFP (Lebanon Foundation for Peace) Middle East Staff that major battles in and around Damascus today have resulted in a resounding victory for the rebels over Assad Regime forces.The area of Reef (Mountains near Damascus) saw heavy fighting and FSA Firkan Unit forces overran five positions and captured five regime battalions. More than 150 regime fighters died in the battle and the remaining troops surrendered to FSA forces.Regiment 90 forces of the Assad Regime also lost many armored vehicles and a large amount of ammunition to FSA forces. Three tanks and numerous Russian BMP vehicles were part of the captured armor.(Note - a Syrian battalion can consist of between 300 and 1,200 troops and several battalions make up a regiment or a brigade. Therefore over 1,000 troops were captured, likely much more.)

Mr. Najjar was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1964 and is a Lebanese Christian Orthodox currently living in USA. A member of the old generation of the Lebanese Forces officers, he served for many of the Lebanese War years in Intelligence. Najjar published the famous book "From Israel to Damascus" by Mr. Robert Hatem and "Cobra". One example is the Lebanese Foundation for Peace, a self-styled "Government of Lebanon in Exile in Jerusalem" founded by former Lebanese Forces’ military intelligence officer Nagi Najjar. Najjar, a CIA consultant, testified not so long ago in support of Ariel Sharon’s "complete innocence" in the Sabra and Shatila affair against charges by Human Rights Watch and regional governments. Najjar has also paired with Mossad agent Yossef Bodansky while lobbying the U.S. congress to intervene in Hezbollah-dominated south Lebanon. His NGO, The Lebanese Foundation for Peace, endorsed the AIPAC-sponsored sanctions against Syria, known as the Syria Accountability / Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2003. On his LFP website featuring an Israeli flag, Najjar’s "government in exile" issued an official declaration; "We, the people of Free Lebanon, thank Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom for the campaign launched by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Afffairs aimed at ousting Syria from occupying Lebanon."
