A top French police official said police on Saturday arrested 61 people — including 19 women — for attempting to hold a Paris protest against France's pending ban on face-covering Islamic veils.- Nicolas Lerner, chief of staff for the Paris police chief said fifty-nine people were detained while trying to demonstrate at Place de la Nation in eastern Paris, as were two others while traveling there from Britain and Belgium.The arrests come amid a rising groundswell of controversy over Monday's start of an official ban of garments that hide the face, which includes Muslim veils such as the slit-eyed niqab and the full face-covering burqa.

Women who disobey the law risk a fine, special classes, and a police record.The demonstrators rallied in defiance of a ban of the protest ordered Friday by Paris police.The measure forbids women to hide their faces in public places, even in the streets. France's Muslims number at least 5 million, the largest such population in western Europe.

[Now what im going to state might shock you,and if misunderstood,might be taken as an advocay of radicalism,however that is not what i stand for nor what i advocate,so please understand my position...i say cause civil disobediance,and if  riots break out so be it...why do i say this?because French government has no right to tell people how to dress...theres many french people who go nude in public!!theres people who dress almost nude like and thats accepted,what right does the french gov have to decide how much or how less a person should dress?zero,none..im not  afan opf covering ,but i am for right to women to choose,this is evidence that FRANCE IS NOT A FREE SOCIETY...IT COMPLETLY EXPOSES THEM AS A FAKE DEMOCRACY..THEY EITEHR SUPPORT RIGHT OF WOMEN TO CHOOSE OR NOT CAN HAVE IT BOTH WAYS...
