A prominent Bahraini cleric condemned the country's military forces for using excessive force and violence against peaceful protesters, and said the regime in Manama is serving the interests of the colonialist powers. "The al-Khalifa regime seeks to secure the interests of the colonialist powers which want to sow discord between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims," Sheikh Adel al-Hannan said. 

He pointed out that the arrogant powers have mobilized all their possibilities to suppress the growing wave of Islamic awakening in Bahrain because they are deeply fearful of the culture of martyrdom-seeking which is growing among the Shiites. The cleric also blamed the US and Saudi Arabia for ordering the destruction of Muslim religious sites and mosques in Bahrain, and said that the regional nations are tired of the arrogant and tyrannical rule of the world powers.
