The visiting chairman of the Portuguese Emporgas company said anti-Iran sanctions for its peaceful nuclear program is a “stupid and unfair” action.  Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the 16th Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemicals Exhibition, Alberto Quintas Mendes said this is the first time that his company is participating in such an event in Iran. Mendes said he was shocked when came to Iran and saw things contradictory to the negative propaganda against this country by western states. He described the Iranian people as “nice, very normal and happy.” Mendes said his visit to Iran was aimed at becoming familiar with the potentials of participating companies in the 16th Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemicals Exhibition.

The chairman of the Portuguese Emporgas company said there is no obstacle in the way of bolstering Iran-Portugal bilateral ties, adding our government is open to cooperate with the Iranian side. He also expressed hope that the event could result in signing of several agreements with Iranian companies. The 16th Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemicals Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2011) opened in Tehran on April 15 and wrapped up on April 19. Some 1,550 domestic and foreign companies from 40 world countries took part in the event. The number of foreign companies taking part in the event shows a 35 percent growth compared to the last year exhibition.
