Four policemen killed in western Iran http://www.rebelnews.org/politics/middle-east/753019-four-policemen-killed-in-western-iran
At least four policemen have been killed and several others wounded in a terrorist attack on a police station in Iran's western province of Kurdistan. The incident occurred on Friday night when a group of armed militants reportedly opened fire on a police station in a village near the city of Marivan, Mehr News Agency reported on Saturday. The overnight attack left five other policemen injured in the village near the Iraqi border. The identity of the assailants was not immediately clear, but local sources say the attackers have links to the anti-Iranian terrorist group PJAK.
PJAK is an offshoot of Turkey's Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is blacklisted as a terrorist organization by Ankara, Tehran and much of the international community. PKK launches attacks against Turkish government forces from Iraq's Qandil Mountains in the areas under the control of Kurdistan Regional Government President Massoud Barzani, while PJAK militants mainly engage in armed attacks with Iranian security forces along the country's border with neighboring Iraq. Israel and Israeli firms also operate in the northern Iraqi mountain range and are believed to have close links to the terrorists.
