Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Shamseddin Hosseini termed the country's economy as a ship which has passed over the 'storm of sanctions' successfully. Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the Annual and Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group on April 16-17 in Washington, the US, Hosseini said the Islamic Republic enjoys considerable economic potentials. Despite sanctions, Iran has seen 40 percent increase in transit of goods during the past Iranian calendar year started on March 21, 2010, the finance minister pointed out. On Iran's economic relations with the UK, Hosseini said Tehran enjoys trade relations with 190 world states but it was to lessen those relations with some certain countries including Britain. The economic development and reform will be promoted during the current Iranain calendar year, Iran's minister noted. He further said the country is due to create 2.5 million new job opportunities this year.
