West must stop supporting Saudi occupation of Bahrain, says London academic http://www.irna.ir/ENNewsShow.aspx?NID=30327318&SRCH=1
A London-based leading figure in the Bahraini opposition movements has called on the West to stop supporting the Saudi occupation of Bahrain and the “ethnic-cleansing” in the country. Journalist and academic Saeed al-Shahabi said that the latest situation in Bahrain has seen an “intensification of attacks on religious places” including seven mosques being targeted and burnt. “There has been many people stopped, searched beaten arrested or in certain cases released afterwards. More troops are at crossroads and entrances to villages,” Shahabi said.
But he told IRNA that people of Bahrain are “more determined” to continue their protests and have called another 'day of rage' this week that will see further demonstrations “against the declaration of martial law and the Saudi occupation.” Asked about the criticised response by Western governments, Shababi said that they should be “humane, apply international law on the rules of engagement and support the people of Bahrain in their move to force democracy in their country.” “It is time that western countries, especially the US and Britain, stop supporting the Saudi occupation of Bahrain and to stop giving legitimacy to this unwarranted occupation,” he said.
