West playing 'cynical game' in Libya, says UK professor http://www.irna.ir/ENNewsShow.aspx?NID=30326316
A British barrister and lecturer has accused the west of “playing a cynical game” in its zest to influence and control the future of Libya. “Claiming that its intervention is humanitarian, it is manipulating the situation by weakening both sides in a cunning way – one moment it is attacking the Gaddafi forces in the west, the next moment it does nothing and so lets the Gaddafi forces (with their superior military equipment) attack the opposition in the east,” Professor Rodney Shakespeare said.
“In this way both sides are continually being weakened and so both sides come more and more under the influence of Europe,” Shakespeare said in an interview with IRNA. His belief was that Europe seems likely to be looking to establish a “client state” in the east, which has most of the high quality Libyan oil, saying that a de facto recognition of a government in the east has already been made and that “Western advisers and, no doubt, arms are coming in.”
