FRANCE SAYS ITS DIPLOMATS WILL REMAIN IN SYRIA http://www.namnewsnetwork.org/v2/read.php?id=174323
France will keep its diplomats in Syria despite the US withdrawal of its ambassador in Damascus following threats on his life, Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said. Juppe, at a news conference in the southwestern city of Bordeaux Monday, said France does not intend to call any of its diplomats from Damascus as security protection was provided.
He expressed solidarity with the US whose ambassador Robert Ford has received threats against his life. Juppe, meanwhile, expressed regret over the UN Security Council's rejection of a draft resolution that would have condemned oppression in Syria. Permanent members, Russia and China, vetoed the draft resolution which was tabled by France, Britain, Germany and Portugal.
