Forty one Colombian candidates have so far been killed during the current campaign for Sun Oct 30 regional and local elections, the Electoral Observation Mission (MOE) said.The NGO said the 41 homicides were linked to the forthcoming regional elections and comparing to 27 killed in the 2007 elections it accounted for a 52-percent increase.MOE also said that death threats decreased by 3 percent, with 88 cases in comparison with the 91 reported in 2007 but assassination attempts remained at the same level, with 23 cases.Meanwhile, abductions decreased by 13 percent, totaling eingt cases in 2007 and seven this year.MOE said that Antioquia and Valle del Cauca were the Colombian province most affected by the violence against candidates - each with 26 cases.
