Palestinian Analyst: Iran main obstacle to expansion of US dominance in region http://www.irna.ir/ENNewsShow.aspx?NID=30649517&SRCH=1
Referring to Iran’s key role in the regional developments especially those in Syria, Nicola Nasser said that one major element deterring military interventions by the NATO and West in Syria is the role Iran plays in the region. Nasser, based in the West Bank, stressed that any kind of war against Syria will undoubtedly endanger security of Israel which is easy target for the missiles of Iran, Syria and Hizbollah while the Americans are not willing to initiate a war which will threaten the security and very existence of the Zionist regime. NATO is now focusing on Syria after conclusion of its operations in Libya in an attempt to dissolve the country by fanning the flame of ethnic differences, he said, stressing that the dominance of the US and the NATO on Syria was something out of reach. The Palestinian analyst continued his article by saying that there were signs indicating efforts by the West, the US in particular, to trigger ethnic and religious disputes in Syria which make it believable that the US and the NATO are seeking a fate like that of the former Yugoslavia for Syria. He further said there were reports that Turkey and a number of other countries were carrying out measures to enroll volunteers to be dispatched to Syria to fight alongside the rioters against the Syrian government.
