Ecuador General Prosecutor proposes creation of UNASUR International Criminal Court  http://www.avn.info.ve/contenido/ecuador-general-prosecutor-proposes-creation-unasur-international-criminal-court  Ecuador General Prosecutor, Galo Chiriboga, said on Wednesday that it was necessary to create an International Criminal Court attached to the legal regulations of the member countries of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR)In statements offered to the Peruvian news agency ANDINA, Chiriboga explained that the creation of an ICC for UNASUR is a proposal to be discussed among member countries, so the region can have its own court and penal criteria to fight together against drug trafficking, money laundering, human trafficking, among other.He said that the proposal was already handed over to the presidents of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, and the Peruvian head of State, Ollanta Humala, will receive it soon."If we deal with (crimes) from an international cooperation perspective, I think our countries will be able to give better response to face those issues," the Prosecutor highlighted.Chiriboga explained that the goal is to establish, first, a political negotiation among UNASUR member states to define what kind of crimes will be competence of the ICC and, then, reach an agreement on the legal proceedings that will be implemented by the countries that decide to participate in this multilateral organ.
