Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General, Abdel Latif Ben Rashed al-Zayyani, handed Lebanese Chargé d'affaires in Saudi Arabia, Munir Anouti, an official protest memo from GCC countries, expressing strong condemnation of "Change and Reform" Bloc Head Michel Aoun's recent statement on Bahrain.
al-Zayyani met Anouti on Monday at GCC Secretariat General's headquarters in Riyadh, where he handed him said memo. The memo regarded MP Michel Aoun's statement to "al-Alam" Channel on February 12, 2013, on Bahrain, as "irresponsible" and misleading that reflects the visions and interests well known to everybody, and has nothing to do with the real situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain. "Such irresponsible statements contradict with the historical and fraternal relations and ties between Lebanon and GCC countries... and reflect narrow and personal interests not for the welfare of Lebanon and the Arab nation," al-Zayyani said.
[ed notes; what could Aoun have said that the gcc contests but cant refute? The FPM leader said that the demands of the protesters in Bahrain are “fair and justified.”He criticized the Arab League and international community for failing to support the protests.Aoun added: “It's unfortunate that a peaceful revolution, which has been oppressed and going on for three years, has not been recognized enough by the world.” http://www.naharnet.com/stories/en/72467-report-gcc-countries-to-ban-lebanese-from-entering-territories
