MAIN OPPOSITION CALLS ON WEST TO STOP ARMS SALES TO BAHRAIN
[[[[[[A senior member of Bahrain’s al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, urged
the western countries to bring to a halt their support for the Al-
Khalifa regime, and stop selling weapons to the Bahraini government.“We want a halt in arms sales to the Bahraini government by the western
countries, because we support the language of peace and not the language
of death,” Javad Firouz told Bahrain’s Lulu TV.]]]]]]
[[[[[[The activist pointed to an upcoming arms exhibition in the UK and
London's invitation to the Bahraini regime to attend the same, and said,
“The Bahraini regime is supported by those states which supply weapons
to that country, including Britain.”The governments of Britain, the US and France are among the main
suppliers of weapons to the Al-Khalifa regime. The use of US-made tear
and suffocating gases, for suppressing the Bahraini nation, has been
proved before]]]]]].Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations
across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the
al-Khalifa dynasty.Violence against the defenseless people escalated, after a Saudi-led
conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian
Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,
the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar - were dispatched to the tiny
Persian Gulf kingdom on March 2011, to help Manama crack down on
peaceful protesters. So far, tens of protesters have been killed, hundreds have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured.--
