Iran Underlines Dismantlement of All N. Weapons http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9001171523

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammad Khazayee called on all countries to take serious steps towards dismantlement of all nuclear weapons in the world in an effort to materialize the main objective of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). "The only way to remove the danger of the nuclear weapons is their complete dismantlement and annihilation," Khazayee said, addressing the annual meeting of the UN Disarmament Commission (UNDC).He reminded the continued threat of the nuclear weapons to the world people, and blasted the countries which possess such weapons for their lack of action and commitment to their legal undertakings with regard to the dismantlement of such weapons.

Khazayee also reiterated that establishing sustainable and equal security for all the world countries is possible only through resort to the power of logic and stop in using force and violence. Iran has repeatedly called for global nuclear disarmament, including in the Middle East region where the Zionist regime has stockpiled hundreds of nuclear warheads with open support by the US and its European allies. Iran, an NPT-signatory, has repeatedly called for the removal of all weapons of mass destruction from across the globe. The UN General Assembly approved a draft resolution proposed by Iran on nuclear disarmament in October 2009 amid strong opposition by the US, Britain, France, Israel and a number of western countries.

The resolution ratified in the first committee of the UN General Assembly calls on all nuclear countries to annihilate their nuclear weapons under the supervision of international bodies. More than 100 countries, including non-nuclear members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), voted for the resolution. The resolution also urges Israel to join the NPT and allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect its nuclear installations.
