The US blockade on Cuba for almost half a century was firmly condemned by Ecuadorians in El Oro province during a conference delivered by Cuban ambassador Jorge Rodriguez in Machala, its capital.Rodriguez was received in the main banana-producing province of the country by its governor Edgar Cordoba, Civil Governor Montgomery Sanchez and mayor of the fourth city of the country Carlos Falquez that also expressed their solidarity with the lifting of the blockade.
