Ecuador FM: Venezuela submitted sound human rights report http://www.avn.info.ve/node/81540

The report submitted by Venezuela at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, proved that Latin American countries defend the basic rights of citizens, stated Ecuadorean Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño.Patiño warned that there are attempts on behalf of “fanatic groups with ideological criteria, not objective,” which have tried to accuse progressive countries of violating human rights.During the Universal Periodic Review session last Friday, Venezuela was recognized by 38 out of 50 States which gave recommendations at the Working Group session last Friday Oct. 07.

“Venezuela is particularly working on the defense of human rights. It is good that the situation is informed to the rest of the world,” Patiño said.Latin America has progressed during the last 10 years and “is giving a lesson concerning the use of its macroeconomics, social development of its nations, because we have learned to walk with our own feet and think with our own head.”Concerning the investigations conducted by the Judicial Branch in his country over the coup attempt on September 2010, Patiño reminded that the Executive is demanding an integral process.

Also, he described as “a madness” the request filed by opposition groups in Ecuador to the International Criminal Court, to judge President Rafael Correa due to crimes against humanity.“The only thing we may think is that they are crazy. The one they kidnapped and tried to murder was President Correa. But now, they accuse him of inciting to rebellion when he was subject of the coarsest aggression,” he criticized. The Ecuadorean Foreign Minister met this Monday in Geneva with representatives of the UN refugee agency, the World Trade Organization and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to discuss economic issues of that country. 11:52 10/10/2011 Compartir:
