Pakistan Purchases 100MW of Electricity form Iran
According to FNA dispatches, Pakistani Minister of Water and Power Naveed Qamar announced that the country will supply Gwadar energy needs from Iran. "We have reached an agreement with Iran to purchase 100MW of electricity," the Pakistani minister stated. He added that his county has already approved an agreement to import 1000MW of power from Iran. He called on investors to participate in the country's energy projects and promised his country's all-out support for investors.
In a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani held in Islamabad in September, the two countries agreed on taking urgent steps for import of one thousand megawatt of electricity from Iran. Iran's energy minister said in August that Iran has hiked exports of power supplies to the neighboring countries by over 21.67% since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21).
