The released report by Shaheed shows that the main sources of former Maldives foreign minister are MKO (Iranian armed opposition in exile) and other opposition groups abroad.
The other issue that has been highly criticized by international and Iranian observers in Shaheed’s report is his defense of rapists and drug dealers who have committed big crimes against Iranian citizens. According to Islamic values which are the religion of almost all Iranians, such crimes have the punishment of hanging publicly. Since the punishment of criminals can prevent the repetition of such crimes by others, execution of criminal persons has been largely welcomed by Iranian people.
