Venezuela condemns OAS Rapporteur complicity on Globovision case 
Venezuelan Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) Roy Chaderton denounced Friday "the hopeless complicity" of the Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights with "the Inter-American media delinquency," concerning the case of television station Globovision.

By means of a press release issued by Venezuela's Foreign Ministry, the diplomat claimed that such stances are part of the decomposition process in the OAS, concerning the report of the Office of the Special Rapporteur expressing its "concern over the lack of guarantees of independence of the agencies responsible for implementing the Law on Social Responsibility" in Venezuela.According to Chaderton, that decomposition is proved once again in their haste to issue a statement just knowing the view of the offender party, which in this opportunity was sanctioned for violating the Law on Social Responsibility in Radio, Television, and Electronic Media.

"The Rapporteur is permanently and conveniently suffering selective amnesia. It never remembers that Globovision is a hide-out of media criminals, swindling bankers, speculative dealers, deeply rooted slanderers, putschists and subversives. They cannot even remember or even less notice the permanent violations of freedom of speech in their host country, where information is controlled and manipulated by big media corps ('Citizen Murdoch') in alliance with the imperial political power," said Chaderton.

Also, the diplomat said that the sanction imposed this week to Globovision is fair and proportional to the damages caused to the Venezuelan society, which was "maliciously subject of psychological terrorism, collective panic, siege and promotion of hatred, as well as to the manipulation of interviews with relatives of inmates, seized with a huge pain during an unfortunate prison conflict."
