FAR-LEFT GROUP CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY FOR ATTACK ON U.S. EMBASSY IN ANKARA
The outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front on Saturday claimed responsibility for the attack targeting the U.S. embassy in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Friday, Turkish media reported. In a statement published on its website, the leftist group justified the attack as retaliation for the U.S. policy in Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Libya, according to public broadcaster TRT. The suicide bomber who killed Friday at least one person and wounded another in the attack on the U.S. embassy is a member of the outlawed leftist group, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday evening, adding that Turkey would stand united against terrorist attacks.
