Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa today received Chief of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Khaled Meshaal. Interior Minister commended the deep-rooted fraternal relations tie Bahraini-Palestinian peoples, stressing the Kingdom's support for Palestinian people to establish an independent State with Jerusalem as its capital, and reaching their legitimate national claims.

The Minister reviewed the security situation in the Kingdom and operational steps taken by the Interior Ministry in response to the initiative of HM the King to form the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry, noting Bahrain is a democratic country in which people's freedom and rights are protected based on our Arabic and Islamic culture and tradition.On his part, Khaled Meshaal expressed his thanks and praised the Kingdom's support for the Palestinian issue, stressing keenness to achieve security and stability in Bahrain.Minister of State for Internal Affairs Maj. Gen. Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel and Public Security Chief Maj Gen. Tariq Hassan Al-Hassan also attended the meeting.
